Race Management Service
The race management service offered by Desert Sky Adventures (DSA) consists of a variety of activities that the client should be aware of. The following are not meant to be all encompassing descriptions but a brief overview of each individual area that can be part of the race management process.
- Timing
- DSA uses an RFID timing system manufactured by Ipico Race Systems. This system provides to the second accurate timing of all race participants through the use of a light weight radio chip attached to the shoe of the participant. The participant will cross over an energized mat activating the chip and providing DSA with on the spot results.
- The Ipico timing system allows DSA to provide instant results printouts for use in awards ceremonies and participant recognition.
- Permits
- Applicable permits are necessary to ensure that the event is held within all legal parameters set forth by city, state, and federal agencies.
- Permits sometimes include the need for a barricade plan. A barricade plan is a sketch of the area that the event will be held with all barricades placed in necessary positions.
- Permits can take a significant amount of time in some cases and must not be taken lightly.
- Insurance
- Insurance is always required for any running event that DSA is associated with. DSA prefers to use the RRCA (Road Runners Club of America) for their insurance needs.
- If the client wishes to get their own insurance then DSA must be named as an additional assured and receive a copy of that paperwork.
