Race Management Service

The race management service offered by Desert Sky Adventures (DSA) consists of a variety of activities that the client should be aware of. The following are not meant to be all encompassing descriptions but a brief overview of each individual area that can be part of the race management process.

  1. Timing
    1. DSA uses an RFID timing system manufactured by Ipico Race Systems. This system provides to the second accurate timing of all race participants through the use of a light weight radio chip attached to the shoe of the participant. The participant will cross over an energized mat activating the chip and providing DSA with on the spot results.
    2. The Ipico timing system allows DSA to provide instant results printouts for use in awards ceremonies and participant recognition.
  2. Permits
    1. Applicable permits are necessary to ensure that the event is held within all legal parameters set forth by city, state, and federal agencies.
    2. Permits sometimes include the need for a barricade plan. A barricade plan is a sketch of the area that the event will be held with all barricades placed in necessary positions.
    3. Permits can take a significant amount of time in some cases and must not be taken lightly.
  3. Insurance
    1. Insurance is always required for any running event that DSA is associated with. DSA prefers to use the RRCA (Road Runners Club of America) for their insurance needs.
    2. If the client wishes to get their own insurance then DSA must be named as an additional assured and receive a copy of  that paperwork.
